System Engineer

We are looking to hire a mid-level to senior System Engineer to join our team in Sacramento. The candidate will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining high performance IT infrastructure and systems, handling security issues, and maintaining backup & redundancy strategies.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.
• Ensures smooth delivery and operation of servers, storage, backup, networking, and telecommunications infrastructure by monitoring system performance and proactively addressing issues, both on-prem and in-cloud-hosted resources.
• Responsible for group policy administration, Azure Active Directory, Active Directory, Exchange O365MFA, IT security and Azure administration,
• Ensures the day-to-day activities related to Information Technology Client Services and Network Services meet departmental needs.
• Responsible for installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and systems management tools.
• Maintain the Technology Recovery Plan (TRP) documents including the required training, testing, and practice drills. Plan, develop, and implement a continuity plan including disaster management, business resumption, technology recovery priority planning. Create detailed system designs, including hardware and software specifications, interfaces, and data flows.
• Ensure all system interfaces are well-defined and compatible, facilitating smooth communication between subsystems. Monitor and maintain the system throughout its operational life, including performing updates and upgrades as necessary.

Qualifications

• BS in Information Technology, Computer Science Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of experience working in IT Operations with increased responsibilities, with at least 3 of those years at an Administrator s level.
• Excellent and demonstrable understanding of computer systems, storage, backup, network and system administration, firewalls and scripting.
• 5+ years proven experience in managing and deploying Azure Cloud infrastructure and Azure Servers
• 5+ years experience with VMware, Hyper-V and Virtualization.
• 4+ years experience with Switches and Routers.
• Understanding of network protocols, architecture, and systems integration.
• Understanding of methodologies and best practices that are commonly used in the information security industry.
• Relevant certifications such as MCSE and CCNA/CCNP are highly desirable.
• Outstanding problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities.
