Base Salary - 90k - 100k

We're seeking a New Product Development Engineer for a custom electrical lighting and display/fixture manufacturing company near Wood Dale, IL. You'll play a vital role in the new product development division, eventually managing the department, but to start mainly developing cost-effective design solutions for 40% existing and 60% custom/new designs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a design or engineering field of study; associate's degree or non-degreed candidates with relevant experience are also considered.
  • 7+ years' experience as an Engineer in a wood or metal manufacturing environment with a preference for the store fixture or display industry.
    • As a Design Engineer, Product Engineer, New Product Development Engineer, NPD Engineer, or related roles.
  • Proficiency in 3D solid modeling, preferably using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Experience in new product development, prototyping, trademarking, and UL certification.
  • Experience in developing part fixtures and lighting for new products.
  • Familiarity with multi-materials, including wood, metal (sheet metal), plastics, and glass.
    • Cabinetry, wood materials and joining techniques, laminating processes, and cabinet hardware.
    • Sheet metal, metal fabrication, metal, aluminum machining, aluminum die casting, and extruding.

Responsibilities:

  • 40% of their time working on existing projects.
  • 60% on new product design for fixtures for POP displays.
  • Involved in electrical lighting design for the displays.
  • Additionally, the engineer will work on prototyping, trademarking, and UL certification for new fixtures and part designs.
  • Working closely with members of the sales team to create unique solutions for clients.
  • Provide detailed CAD data to allow the manufacturing group to produce the items within their capabilities and the customer s timeline and costs. Carrying out the duties of the Engineering department, including design, research, prototyping, engineering documentation, estimating, and process improvement.
