CDL is expanding its Battery Systems Solutions division and seeking an experienced Account Director to drive sales and manage client relationships within this market.

Position Overview

The Account Director, Battery Systems Solutions will lead the sales and account management efforts for CDL Electric’s battery solutions, focusing on industrial-grade battery systems for rail infrastructure and other essential services. This role requires strong sales, technical, and relationship management skills, and it will focus on developing tailored battery solutions for clients in the rail, transportation, and energy sectors.

Location:

The headquarters is in Pittsburg, KS. Ideal remote locations are in the Central States, Midwest, and Southeast, within 60 miles of a major airport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales & Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, focusing on industrial battery solutions for rail crossings and critical infrastructure.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with rail companies, municipalities, and transportation authorities to grow CDL Electric's battery solutions portfolio.
  • Technical Expertise: Develop a deep understanding of CDL Electric’s battery systems (lead-acid, NiCd, lithium-ion) and provide tailored solutions based on client needs.
  • Project Collaboration: Work with the engineering and installation teams to ensure seamless integration of battery systems into client infrastructure.
  • Market Research & Strategy: Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies, adapting sales strategies accordingly.
  • Reporting: Track sales progress, prepare forecasts, and report regularly to senior leadership.

Top Five Requirements:

  1. Battery Systems Expertise: Strong knowledge of lead-acid, NiCd, and lithium-ion batteries and their application in critical infrastructure.
  2. Sales & Account Management Experience: 3-5 years of experience in industrial or technical sales, preferably in transportation or energy sectors.
  3. Client Relationship Building: Proven ability to cultivate and manage long-term client relationships.
  4. Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with rail industry regulations, infrastructure, and technical requirements.
  5. Willingness to Travel: Up to 50% of the time will be spent traveling for client meetings, industry events, and project oversight.

Additional Requirements:

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. Past and current success results and client relationships are what matter the most.
  • Leadership Skills: Effectively managing projects, teams, and deadlines.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, with the ability to explain complex technical solutions to clients.
  • CRM Proficiency: Experience using CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) to manage leads and track sales activities.
