Summary

The HR Generalist is responsible for assisting with the employee life cycle. This position will process new hires, handle leaves of absence, employee compliance, and terminations. The HR Generalist will respond to employee queries and issues with diplomacy and confidentiality. This position will report to the HR Manager. This is a full-time, exempt, non-union position.

Salary And Benefit Overview

The annual salary range is $70,000 to $80,000 DOE. St. Vincent de Paul of San Francisco offers a robust benefits package that includes two Kaiser HMO medical care options, voluntary dental, vision and life insurance, a 403b retirement plan with employer-paid match after one year of employment and an Employee Assistance Program. Ten vacation and ten sick days accrued per year, two personal floating holidays and twelve and a half holidays offered per year.

Specific Duties And Responsibilities

  • Manages the employee life cycle from hire through termination. Duties include onboarding, handling leaves of absence, corrective actions, and processing terminations.
  • Assist with the new hire process by entering new hires, ensuring paperwork completion, tracking of policies, filing, and compliance with COVID-19 vaccination and fingerprinting.
  • Responsible for input and record maintenance of personnel transactions such as new hires, transfers, leaves, pay changes, and terminations.
  • Keep up to date with knowledge of employment laws.
  • Assist managers with organization and people-related issues and change management.
  • Work with HR Manager and Director on updates to policies and procedures and implementation.
  • Work with managers to resolve conflicts and ensure positive employee relations.
  • Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of employee relations and record keeping.
  • Review job descriptions with hiring managers to ensure they describe the current roles.
  • Assists with employee benefit programs by supporting with Open Enrollment, assisting with benefit issues, and entering benefit enrollments in ADP.
  • Assist hiring managers with phone screening and interviewing of candidates when needed.
  • Answer questions related to hiring, benefits, leave of absence, employee discipline, and pay.
  • Assist with required reporting such as EEO, OSHA, and other compliance reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

  • BA degree in HR or related field. Equivalent work experience may be accepted instead of a degree.
  • Minimum two years of experience handling the full employee life cycle.
  • Excellent knowledge of California employment laws related to pay and employment.
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience working in an HRIS platform. ADP Workforce Now preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
