As a LIMS Developer, you will work with a cross-functional team to develop, configure, and enhance both custom-built and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) in support of our clients mission. You will collaborate with IT and clinical research stakeholders to ensure LIMS systems meet functional and operational needs, focusing on improving workflows, system integration, and data management. Additionally, you will manage LIMS projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with research objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customize and enhance LIMS systems, ensuring alignment with NIAID s research and clinical objectives.
  • Integrate LIMS with other enterprise systems, including electronic laboratory notebooks and data management platforms.
  • Lead LIMS development projects, managing timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.
    • Coordinate project plans, identify milestones, and track progress.
    • Manage stakeholder expectations by providing regular updates and reports on project status.
    • Lead project meetings and facilitate communication across teams to ensure alignment on objectives.
  • Design and implement technical solutions that address key laboratory management needs, such as sample tracking, workflows, and data across multiple research environments.
  • Engage with IT, clinical research, and laboratory teams to gather requirements, define system functionalities, and implement solutions that optimize LIMS operations.
  • Ensure optimal LIMS performance by troubleshooting issues, implementing patches, and supporting upgrades.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation of system architecture, configurations, workflows, and integrations.
  • Conduct analysis on LIMS usage and system efficiency, providing recommendations to improve functionality and performance across the institute.

Required Experience:

  • 8+ years as a LIMS Developer or in a similar technical role supporting enterprise clinical research systems.
  • Experience with system configuration, custom scripting, and integration of LIMS solutions, particularly in a clinical research environment.
  • Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple concurrent LIMS development projects, create project plans, and drive teams to meet deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory workflows, data management, and lifecycle management of LIMS solutions.
  • Familiarity with Limfinity and its functionalities, including system customization and configuration.
  • Knowledge of GxP, ICH guidelines, and regulatory requirements for clinical research and LIMS systems.
  • Ability to analyze large data sets, optimize workflows, and present technical solutions to stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical or scientific field.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Freezerworks, LabWare, LabKey, or Limfinity systems is a strong plus.
  • Experience with clinical trials and research programs.
  • Excellent project management skills, including scheduling, risk management, and resource allocation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
