Laboratory Technician IV

Laboratory Technicians work with the healthcare team to gather and provide laboratory information to caregivers that assists them with patient diagnosis and treatment. This diagnostic data can also provide vital information for disease prevention and health monitoring.

A caregiver in this position works 11:00PM - 7:30AM. This is a part time role.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Perform and interpret tests at all complexity levels.


  • Correlate abnormal laboratory data with pathological states.


  • Determine the validity of test results and the need for additional tests.


  • Communicate test results, reference ranges, specimen requirements and other pertinent information.


  • Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.


  • Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies and document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.


  • Maintain instruments and equipment.


  • Perform proficiency testing.


  • Participate in continuing education, professional development and annual competency assessments.


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science from a four-year college or university OR education and training equivalent to high complexity testing personnel per the CLIA.
  • OR Associates MLT degree
