Hamlyn Williams has partnered with a top-tier foreign banking organization to find a Credit Review Officer to sit within their Credit Review department.

Role Overview:

As a member of the Credit Review team, this individual will be part of a dynamic group responsible for the independent evaluation and ongoing oversight of the quality of the credit portfolio within a large financial institution's Americas division. The individual will have the opportunity to assess the underwriting practices and portfolio quality across a diverse range of sectors.

The Credit Review team acts as an independent challenger of internal credit ratings and ensures adherence to established processes, methodologies, and regulatory standards. This group reports to the Audit Committee, maintaining its independence from the lending and relationship management functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute reviews to independently assess the financial strength and creditworthiness of borrowers, determining if internal ratings and credit exposures are appropriate.
  • Conduct continuous monitoring of credit portfolios, documenting findings to be presented to senior management and the Audit Committee.
  • Prepare detailed work papers and reports, documenting the results and conclusions of credit assessments.
  • Monitor adherence to risk mitigation measures, including reviewing covenant compliance and collateral management.
  • Ensure that credit reviews are conducted in line with company policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Analyze results, formulate conclusions, and provide recommendations for risk management improvements.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's and/or Master’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience in credit risk management, lending, underwriting, or credit review, covering a wide range of sectors such as corporate, industrial, commercial real estate, energy, financial institutions, structured finance, and more.
  • Expertise in credit analysis, corporate finance, accounting, or research.
  • Prior experience with credit review processes is preferred. Formal credit training is a plus.
  • Knowledge of relevant banking regulations, lending products, and capital markets.
  • Strong understanding of credit documentation and risk mitigation techniques.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Highly motivated with a strong academic background.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Adaptability and a strong learning capability.
