Duration: 12-month Contract (with possible extensions up to 5 years)
Pay Range: $44.66 - $47.89 per hour

This full-time, contract CAD 3 position will support and work closely with architects, mechanical engineers, and other CAD staff on the team. This position will also actively work with other internal engineering disciplines.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Produce drawings using computer-aided drafting equipment or conventional drafting stations, technical handbooks, tables, calculators, and traditional drafting tools, such as boards, pencils, protractors, and T-squares.
  • Consult with engineering staff and other personnel to discuss and interpret design concepts, determine requirements of detailed working drawings and resolve problems.
  • Review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from engineers to ensure that they conform to design concepts.
  • Draft plans and detailed drawings for structures, installations, and construction projects, working drawings, wiring diagrams, charts, forms and records based on preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data.
  • Draw master sketches to scale showing relation of proposed installations to existing facilities and exact specifications and dimensions.
  • Coordinate structural, electrical and mechanical designs and determine a method of presentation to graphically represent construction plans.
  • Measure factors that affect installation and arrangement of equipment, such as distances to be spanned by wire and cable.
  • Assemble documentation packages and produce drawing sets which are checked by an engineer or an architect.
  • Review completed construction drawings for accuracy and conformity to standards and regulations.
  • Determine quantity of required materials, and enter figures on materials lists.
  • Obtain and assemble data to complete designs, visiting job sites to compile measurements as necessary.
  • Locate files relating to specified design project in database library, load program into computer, and record completed job data.
  • Examine electronic schematics and supporting documents to develop, compute, and verify specifications for drafting data, such as configuration of parts, dimensions, and tolerances.

Position Requirements:
Education & Corresponding Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in computer aided design or a closely related field is preferred.
  • 7 years of CAD experience is required.
Required Technical Skills & Experience
  • Knowledge of CAD software (MicroStation or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with technical CAD drafting methods related to architectural and mechanical systems as they apply to building facilities.
  • Knowledge of Architectural and Mechanical design techniques involved in production of technical plans for buildings.
  • Experience with MicroSoft software including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Requires attention to detail and being thorough in completing work tasks.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Knowledge of drawing management software (ProjectWise) is preferred.
  • Advanced work experience in an architectural and/or mechanical environment is preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate well with team members.
