As the Director of Engineering, you will lead the company's transition to Azure for its overall cloud strategy. You will build and guide a team to implement new cloud initiatives, while managing both the existing cloud and on-premise infrastructure. Your role will also involve overseeing resources and promoting collaboration across teams such as Application Development and Cybersecurity to bring critical projects to fruition.

This role is a true Director of Engineering position, ideal for someone passionate about driving innovative and modern technology solutions. While you'll be leading people, a strong technical background is essential, having progressed through engineering roles into leadership. You should be well-versed in multi-cloud environments within an enterprise setting, modern ITIL V4 practices, and SRE concepts. Additionally, you are a thoughtful leader, skilled in budget planning, and serve not only as a people manager, but as a mentor to technical teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Instill a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement across teams.
  • Lead talent acquisition and development efforts, with a focus on performance and fostering growth.
  • Identify strategic opportunities and influence stakeholders to support key initiatives.
  • Conduct capacity assessments to ensure systems are scalable and performance meets objectives.
  • Set annual objectives for your function, ensuring alignment with broader company goals.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and new technologies, advising on adoption or avoidance.
  • Cultivate relationships with vendors to support both engineering and business objectives.
  • Spearhead organization-wide initiatives that elevate the maturity and effectiveness of engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with teams across the company to establish technical requirements and prioritize initiatives.
  • Analyze and refine processes to enhance efficiency and drive improvements.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 10+ years of industry experience and 5+ years in a leadership and management position.
  • Mastery of Azure cloud platform and cloud-native tooling such as Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform/OpenTofu, TFlint, Ansible, Packer, OPA, Terragrunt, Consul, Vault, KMS, etc.
  • Deep understanding of systems architecture, cloud networking concepts (e.g., VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancing, firewalling, security groups), and proficiency in designing, building, and maintaining scalable systems.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud security best practices, including IAM, encryption, and security configurations. Familiarity with SAST & DAST tooling.
  • Experience with ITIL4-centric incident management processes, including coordination of cross-functional teams and problem management, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and resiliency patterns.
  • Expertise in observability best practices and experience with monitoring and logging tools such as AWS CloudWatch, EFK/ELK Stack, OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, Datadog, New Relic, PagerDuty/OpsGenie, etc.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Proven track record in building high-performing teams and influencing organizational outcomes.
  • Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Certification in ITILv4 a plus
