Job Summary

Our organization is seeking a qualified Occupational Health and Safety Officer that will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Safety Program. Advisers leadership on pre and post deployment health, safety including the health, wellness, and safety incident personnel.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement workplace programs and procedures that control or prevent chemical, physical, or other risks to incident personnel.
  • Identify potential hazards, risks, and dangers.
  • Monitors incident operations.
  • Collaborate and advise the Incident Commander, and other subject matter experts to institute control and remedial measures for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions or equipment.
  • Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices, in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and state regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a bachelor s degree in Life Science, safety engineering, occupational safety & health, or a public health related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Emergency management experience a must.
  • FEMA courses a plus.

Working conditions/Physical effort

Work is performed mostly in an office setting. Some travel, public speaking, evening, and weekend work are requirements of the position. Regular computer work is also required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; finger, handle, or feel objects, or controls; reach; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
