Job Description

Job Impulse, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Operations Manager in Madison, AL. Our client is a Cybersecurity Company. In this role, you will oversee the production plant's operations, personnel, and on-time delivery (OTD) by leading and coordinating managers and supervisors across multiple departments. Responsibilities include developing processes and procedures, managing personnel, and driving continuous improvement to support a mid-sized electro-mechanical assembly plant.

Key Responsibilities (other Duties As Assigned)

Personnel – 25%

  • Promote and enforce safety practices across all departments.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and encourage innovative ideas.
  • Lead by example with a hands-on management style when necessary.
  • Build and mentor teams, nurturing leadership and operational skills.
    • Take an active role in employee hiring, retention, and discipline across all departments.
    • Develop an organizational structure with new roles and promote from within when possible to fill skill gaps.
    • Invest in employee development, enhancing their skills and management capabilities through training and hands-on experience.
Production – 45%

  • Adapt to evolving requirements, including material and personnel shortages or quality concerns.
  • Oversee daily production output and resolve bottlenecks to maintain optimal performance.
  • Identify and address production/quality issues before resuming operations.
  • Optimize line balancing to maximize personnel efficiency.
  • Ensure ERP systems are fully utilized for data transparency.
  • Adjust labor force based on production demand and company policies.
  • Improve efficiency through automation and Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Interview and approve Leads, Supervisors, and Managers within Operations.
  • Coordinate workflows between departments to prevent delays and resolve production issues promptly.
  • Understand product specifications and troubleshoot technical problems as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Manager on root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.

Plant – 30%

  • Support the Site Manager with facility management and modifications as required.
  • Lead or assist with production layout changes to achieve site objectives.
  • Strengthen inter-departmental collaboration (e.g., Warehouse, Planning, Finance).
  • Oversee material integrity throughout production processes.
  • Plan for current and future site size and production volume needs.
  • Develop environmentally sustainable policies, including recycling, waste removal, and repurposing initiatives.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Safety performance.
  • Process and product quality:
    • First Pass Yield.
    • Quality yield and customer-related rejects.
  • On-time delivery (executing the Production Plan).
  • Efficient operation of assembly lines to meet production targets.
  • Inventory accuracy – Ensure Supervisors/Managers maintain clean and accurate floor counts, restocking unused items and minimizing floor clutter.
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Production Management, Operations Management, or related field, or 10+ years of experience overseeing electrical/mechanical manufacturing.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong manufacturing experience, particularly in electromechanical and SMT assembly, with a proven record of team leadership.
  • Flexibility in working hours to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Expertise in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Conflict resolution skills while preserving team unity.
