Job Description
Passaic County Community College (PCCC) is seeking a full-time faculty member for our Computer and Information Sciences department. This is an in-person, tenure track position.
General Description: Full-time faculty members will teach a variety of courses, introductory and advanced Information Technology and Computer Science courses, and should possess commitment to teaching excellence and student success. They will advise students, serve on committees and, in general, advance the educational program of the college. The faculty member will take an active role in department activities, including curriculum development and assessment. Full-time faculty members are assigned academic rank and salary commensurate with education and experience. They report through a peer department chairperson to the Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.

Example of Duties:

  • Teach assigned classes (Information Technology and Computer Science) in accordance with the College's academic calendar and approved syllabi.
  • Meet class sessions (day and evening) as scheduled for the full scheduled time.
  • Maintain and report accurate student grade and attendance records using approved procedures and systems.
  • Create a student-centered learning environment that promotes learning and engagement.
  • Participate in assessment activities in support of the PCCC institutional effectiveness program.
  • Attend and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Participate in Professional Development opportunities.
  • Utilize the appropriate technology, including the College's student learning platform, to fulfill teaching duties. (Software training is provided)
  • Maintain communication with the College, department and students via the College's assigned email and LMS.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or closely related field required.
  • Higher education teaching experience required; Community College preferred.
  • Knowledge of Computer Science/Information Technology subjects, such as Cloud Computing, Networking and Security, Web and Mobile Development, Database and Programming,
  • Experience with Data Science and Artificial Intelligence preferred
  • Experience teaching with a Learning Management System (LMS) such as Blackboard preferred.
  • Ability to teach courses incorporating different modalities, concurrently or remotely via Zoom preferred.
  • Ability to teach a diverse student body.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
