Must Haves:

  • 8+ years' experience with RTSI Real Time Scheduling Information computing platforms, operating systems, databases, programming languages, communication protocols: Trip Manager, Rail Network, Admin Mgr, Schedule Manager, TrainTrac, Redis DB, MongoDB. Languages such as C#, SQL, Json, Python, html, etc
  • 5+ years' experience in the use of data and process modelling methodologies, techniques and tools, including a working knowledge of metadata structures, repository functions, and data dictionaries
  • 5+ years' experience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables (e.g. models)
  • Experience in the development and implementation of application architectures at the specified experience level
  • Experience with middleware and gateways
  • Knowledge of performance considerations in different environments
  • Experience in structured methodologies for the design, development and implementation of applications
  • Extensive experience in systems analysis and design in large systems environments
  • Awareness of emerging I&IT trends and directions
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines

Description

  • Require an Application Architect with extensive knowledge of the Metrolinx Real Time Scheduling Information (RTSI) ecosystem.
  • RTSI is a group of 32 critical applications that enable Metrolinx staff to manage day-to-day operations efficiently.
  • The ecosystem drives On Time Performance and Customer Satisfaction by delivering accurate, fast, and reliable information through multiple channels.
  • Over the years, new operational capabilities were added to the RTSI ecosystem due to the lack of enterprise capabilities at the time.
  • The current RTSI ecosystem includes over 60 interfaces and multiple databases.
  • The role, with a 6-month term, is focused on:
  • Detailing the applications, databases, and data flows within the current RTSI ecosystem.
  • Training existing permanent staff on the intricacies of these systems.
  • This will prepare the internal team for future success and ensure they have the knowledge to support and guide these applications as they transition to more modern solutions aligned with the Transit Operations Roadmap.

Responsibilities include:

  • Documenting the process and the outcome of thinking out and specifying the overall structure, logical components, and the logical interrelationships of a computer, its operating system, a network, or other conception.
  • Defines the structure and relationship among applications, including the identification of re-usable components, quality level metrics, the organization and layering of software, and the determination of interfaces.
  • Defines the interactions between application packages, databases and middleware systems.
