POSITION SUMMARY

The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing the data and voice network infrastructure and firewall in the Americas Zone while maintaining network security and optimizing performance to ensure seamless communication.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Design, specify, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi and security hardware, software, and telecommunications services.
  • Oversee set-up and troubleshoot communication between network peripherals, such as computers, IP phones, networks, routers, data switches, printers, load balancers, wireless access points and other network and wireless resources.
  • Manage network performance, capacity, connectivity, and functionality, using tools such as SolarWinds, or any SNMP NMS.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot network problems, and identifying and resolving root causes, using tools such as ping, traceroute, nslookup, wireshark, etc.
  • Implement and enforce network security policies based on company requirements and best practice, such as firewall rules, VPNs, encryption, and authentication.
  • Manage, configure, and implement firewall settings, rules, and policies. Monitor the firewall logs to detect potential security breaches.
  • Investigate suspicious traffic, respond to and resolve security incidents, and perform root cause analysis.
  • Perform required testing, integration, and deployment of security systems and applications. Research and apply security patches and updates as needed.
  • Perform complex needs analyses and provide recommendations for network standards, design, and security.
  • Develop implementation plans for network upgrades and modifications, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Document and update network diagrams, configurations, and procedures as needed.
  • Demonstrate project management leadership in partnership with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to identify business needs and implement effective solutions.
  • Research and evaluate new network technologies and solutions, find innovative ways to enhance network performance, and make recommendations for network improvement and optimization.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and collaborate with external vendors and service providers, such as ISPs, cloud providers, and hardware suppliers.
  • Utilize technical expertise to provide guidance for other DI staff.
  • Provide routine after-hours maintenance and emergency support as needed to maintain and secure network.
  • Support the UK office in the event of network incidents or issues as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, SKILLS and EXPERIENCES

  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, and minimum 5 years of experience in network engineering, administration, or support.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, standards, and architectures, such as TCP/IP, Ethernet, LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, VLAN, MPLS, QoS, and SD-WAN.
  • Proficient in network equipment and software configuration, installation, and troubleshooting, such as Cisco IOS, Aruba and Palo Alto PAN-OS.
  • Certification in network technologies: CCNA (required), CCNP or PCNSE (preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Visio.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal and working relationships with various levels of staff, management, and contractors.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a global team.
  • Ability to manage priorities, optimize workflows, and meet deadlines while working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and technologies with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Availability to work on-call and outside of normal business hours as needed.
  • Valid driver s license.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • The individual must possess excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Able to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Able to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Able to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and draw and interpret bar graphs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and/or reach with hands and arms to work on computer keyboard, cell phone, and office equipment.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities are required for this job including ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is often in office settings or at the plant and warehouse locations.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually light and moderate.
  • Ability to travel (domestic) 10% or as needed to meet business needs.
