In this role, you will lead and oversee Traffic Signal and Illumination Design projects for various clients, including the City of Toronto, Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO), Municipalities, and Private Developers. Your responsibilities will include designing traffic signals and PHM-125 systems, integrating various traffic detector technologies, and creating lighting designs for roadways, highways, parking lots, and pedestrian pathways. Additionally, you will mentor and guide junior engineers and designers, providing technical expertise and support to enhance team performance and project outcomes.

In this role, your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and overseeing Traffic Signal and Illumination Design projects for a variety of clients, including the City of Toronto, the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO), Municipalities, and Private Developers.
  • Leading the design of:
    • Traffic signals and PHM-125 systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and client requirements.
    • Design and integration of various traffic detector technologies, ensuring optimal functionality and efficiency.
    • Design of lighting for roadways, highways, parking lots, and pedestrian pathways, utilizing advanced techniques and tools.
  • Coordinating and managing technical aspects of projects, liaising with other departments, clients, and sub-consultants to ensure seamless collaboration and project delivery.
  • Mentoring and guiding junior engineers and designers, providing technical expertise and support to enhance team performance and project outcomes.
  • Continuously growing professional skills and knowledge through seminars, workshops, and involvement in professional associations to stay updated on the latest trends, software, and technology.
  • Manage other related assignments within the scope of the Transportation Infrastructure Design practice area.

The qualifications you need:

  • Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 8-10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on traffic signal and illumination design projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant standards and codes, including those set by the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO).
  • Experience with design tools such as AutoCAD or other industry related tools.
  • Strong project management skills, with a proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, sub-consultants, and other departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior engineers and designers.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated on industry trends.
