Job Description
Wells Manager (Abandonments)
JOB FUNCTION
Safely and compliantly execute well abandonments, mitigating future liabilities.
Responsibilities and duties:
Team & Individual Contributions: Lead a small contractor team while handling individual tasks.
Well Data: Research, verify, and document well conditions/status.
Abandonment Programs: Lead development of programs encompassing:
Cost/schedule estimating, budgeting, planning
Risk assessments & change order management
Abandonment procedures & contingency plans
Permitting & regulatory assistance
Compliance: Enforce adherence to policies, standards, procedures, and regulations.
Oversight: Oversee well abandonments, ensuring BSEE compliance.
Knowledge Sharing: Gather, document, and share abandonment best practices & lessons learned.
Decommissioning Support: Assist in developing the overall Decommissioning Plan.
Reporting: Provide program information to Leadership & other groups. Assist in weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting & reviews.
Procurement: Develop procurement & contracting strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
10+ years relevant experience in GOM shelf, dry tree wells (drilling, completions, abandonments).
In-depth well plug/abandonment knowledge.
Experience leading well programs & projects.
Senior management presentation experience.
Comfortable working strategically & tactically.
Education, Training & Certifications
Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering field.
Well Control (surface) certification.
Proficient in Microsoft products.
Reporting & Location
Reports to Vice President - Operations.
Remote contract position but must be based in the Greater Houston Area
