Job Overview:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join their team in Santa Clara, California. This direct hire position is ideal for a seasoned engineer with a strong background in land development who can manage projects with minimal oversight, mentor junior engineers, and lead teams to successful project completion. As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will oversee the production of design from initial concepts to final permitted drawings on multiple projects, ensuring quality and efficiency throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Management:
  • Assist with proposal preparation, including project-specific approaches, scope, staff selection, and resource-loaded schedules.
  • Participate in contract negotiations, approve client billing, and secure contract amendments for changes to scope and fees.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and control project team activities with minimal input from team lead.
  • Maintain project schedules, budgets, and track project risks.
  • Develop working relationships with clients, contractors, stakeholders, relevant agencies, and more.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Independently design on-site and off-site improvements for the planning and construction of commercial, industrial, and/or high-density residential projects.
  • Provide accurate designs for grading, drainage, utilities, and stormwater treatment.
  • Prepare civil engineering calculations and other engineering reports.
  • Assist in the QAQC review of project plan sets.
  • Perform construction cost estimating and coordinate with municipalities, architects, subconsultants, and clients.
  • Staff Management:
  • Mentor junior engineers, set goals, and aid in their professional development.
  • Provide input on annual employee evaluations and ongoing skill development.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience with a Professional Engineering License in CA or 20+ years of experience (non-licensed).
  • Project Management experience.
  • Employee Management experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bluebeam.
  • General knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office, Adobe, Internet, etc.
  • Additional certifications (e.g., QSP/QSD, PMP) are a plus.
