Job Description

We are looking for an energetic Senior-level R&D Systems engineer interested in performing hands-on work as part of the development and testing of medical device products. As an R&D Systems Engineer, you will work alongside a dynamic fast-paced engineering team to conceive, develop, test, and debug novel catheter-based technologies to treat vascular disease. This position is in the electrical/systems group and includes working directly with the electrical hardware and software aspects of the system and performing lab experiments using standard EE lab equipment, but also interfacing with the mechanical portions of the system and coordinating with cross-functional team members. Some soldering and assembly of electrical prototype systems is to be expected. As part of medical device development, the candidate will also be able to write test protocols and reports as new iterations and prototype systems are tested.

What Success Looks Like

  • Testing and debugging embedded systems at the board & microcontroller level
  • Writing system requirements, test protocols, and risk documentation
  • Helping to brainstorm and conceive creative engineering solutions to problems
  • Performing experiments on prototype systems
  • Working with lab equipment (scopes, signal generators, impedance analyzers, multi-meters)
  • Helping to assemble and test new prototype designs
  • Documentation of work performed, test results, test reports
  • Helping to interface with external vendors

What You Bring

  • Experience working on embedded systems, at the PCBA and microcontroller level
  • Solid understanding of circuits and hardware
  • Experience working in C on an embedded microcontroller
  • Energy and excitement for medical device development
  • Desire to do hands-on engineering as part of a cross-functional team
  • Integrity in work product
  • A record of seeing projects through to completion
  • Ability to perform technical writing as required

    Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering with 5+ years of relevant technical experience, preferably in the medical device field
