MBH Architects is a top-tier firm with a small firm feel. We have offices in the San Francisco Bay Area, New York, Denver, and Mumbai. Our staff of over 200 employees work on projects ranging from high-density housing developments to sustainability-focused tech campuses to restaurants for MVPs like Michael Mina to memorable spaces for brands like Tesla, Allbirds, Invisalign, West Elm, and the world s top luxury brands. We are seeking a highly organized, versatile, team-oriented person to join our team in Alameda as a Designer.

This position takes responsibility for design engineering tasks for high-end retail fixtures, including adherence to client product, industry, and process standards; and the development of technical drawings that meet our client s scope while enabling profitable manufacturing and installing of the product. The incumbent ensures that designs are supported by accurate product data, shop drawings and supporting documentation to allow for on time and complete fabrication and installation.

Duties include:

  • Production design and development of retail store fixtures, addressing technical issues and drafting working models and drawings
  • Review build partner drawings to identify and document any deviations from product and installation standards
  • Assist with creating models, mockups and design validation samples from sketches and architectural drawings
  • Maintain samples, specification sheets, design guide content and internal procedures documentation
  • Assist in research and development efforts and generation of reports relating to materials and manufacturing techniques, coordinating with a variety of vendors and industries

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 year design engineering experience in metal and wood product manufacturing; experience with retail clients preferred.
  • Experience with prototyping, product testing, and client-facing / vendor-facing work is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Solid Works, Rhino, Inventor, Revit or similar platforms required as well as knowledge of millwork, fixtures, furniture, cabinetry or related industries.
  • Degree in architecture, industrial or engineering design, graphic/creative arts, or related fields preferred
