As we continue to expand our global footprint, we are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Construction & Design Manager to join our team based in Kelowna, BC. This leadership role is instrumental in the successful execution of construction projects across Canada. As a Construction & Design Manager, you will oversee all aspects of project delivery, from inception to completion, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

A typical day will involve collaborating closely with the Senior Director of Construction and Design, managing project teams, coordinating with subcontractors, and making critical decisions to overcome challenges. You will be responsible for driving project success through effective planning, execution, and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, including budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
  • Lead and mentor project teams to achieve project goals and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Manage project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Provide regular project updates and reports to stakeholders; managing stakeholders expectations through appropriate forms of communication. Including weekly department meetings and yearly conference presentations.
  • Assists with pre-commissioning, commissioning, and project closeout.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need a strong foundation in construction management combined with exceptional leadership and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proven Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive construction management experience in the industry. A background in owning and operating your own construction business is a significant asset.
  • Technical Expertise: A construction trade certification or diploma in construction management is required. In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, equipment, safety regulations, and building codes is essential.
  • Financial Acumen: Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, control costs, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey information to diverse audiences.
  • Technology Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and a willingness to adapt to new technologies.
  • Project Management: Experience with project management software and methodologies.
