Benskin & Hott has been retained to assist our client, an acquisitive, high growth organization, with identifying their VP of Operations. This is a newly created role reporting directly to the CEO and will be part of the executive leadership team. Position will be located in the Midwest and offers a strong relocation package. This role will be groomed to eventually become the Chief Operating Officer.

As the VP of Operations, you will work closely with the CEO on the development and execution of operational strategies that drive business performance and growth. This role will be responsible for oversight of the daily operations for the organization and providing strategic guidance to the business unit leaders. You will touch on various aspects of the business to include strategy, operations, risk management, leadership development, new market growth, acquisitions, and customer satisfaction.

Ideal candidate will be someone with an entrepreneurial mindset, ability to set strategic direction, able to shift priorities quickly, and possesses a track record of achieving results through their team. Ideally, will currently be at a Director or VP level and seeking a role where you will have a direct impact on driving the growth of an organization. Will possess a Bachelor’s degree with 15+ years of experience leading large capital projects within the construction or manufacturing sectors. Must have 3+ years in a senior leadership role with a construction related organization with revenues of $350M+. Track record of growing a business unit or company, developing strong performing teams through mentoring & coaching, and driving business performance through data driven decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the CEO and senior leadership to create a comprehensive, integrated strategic business plan that maximizes market presence and enhances profitability across existing and emerging projects.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO by providing invaluable insights, guidance, and ability to transform plans into tangible achievements.
  • Evaluate the company’s operating results against benchmarks, employing an analytical prowess to identify areas for improvement and develop targeted action plans.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to achieve the company’s goals and objectives with a focus on market growth, profitability, and execution.
  • Assess operational risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring business continuity. Must possess knowledge of construction delivery methods and contractual risk.
  • Model and set the precedence of the People First culture, prioritizing mentoring, employee development, and promoting a positive work environment.
  • Lead collaboration and teamwork across multiple business units.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to business leaders and operating teams to ensure alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Drive operational excellence across the organization by working with the business unit leaders on identifying and implementing new policies and procedures to streamline operations and reduce costs. Oversee the change management processes.
  • Leverage technology and data analytics to improve business decisions.
  • Anticipate and mobilize business units to adapt to external changes in the market.
  • Actively participate in business development efforts, maintain relationships with industry associations, key clients, and subcontractors.
