Salary Range: $74,000 - $82,000 based on experience.

Job Responsibilities

The Planning Manager is responsible for maintaining and guiding all production control activities including Demand Planning, Production Planning and Scheduling and Inventory Management.

Experience: Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage/develop the production build plan, including daily, weekly, and monthly scheduling and run requirements for all departments.
  • Manage and maintain scheduling activities, ensuring all sales orders entered align for best fit into the production environment. Adjust scheduling needs accordingly and clearly communicate to all necessary departments/individuals when adjustments must be made to meet customer and production demands.
  • Maintain/manage backlog report.
  • Develop and negotiate lead times with commercial and operations teams based on customer requirement and material, labor and machine capabilities.
  • Develop positive relationship with operations and commercial teams to meet customer demand and productivity goals.
  • Use databases and analytic tools (KPI’s) to understand and measure daily production activities. In the event of a deviation from standard, work with Production Managers to establish root cause and corrective actions to maintain expected production rates.
  • Review production requirements daily and work with all associated departments to communicate (or lead associated parties to communicate) all necessary updates.
  • Evaluate current production processes and recommend improvements.
  • Assist is determining manpower and raw materials needed to cover production demand.
  • Develop capacity planning tools and monitor plant capacity to ensure the optimal level of production capability is available to meet forecasted demand.
  • Improve job/parts scheduling to position the company for using MRP within the ERP system.
  • Manage and lead inventory activities, including monthly and quarterly cycle counts. Work to reduce excess and obsolete or slow-moving inventory yet also ensuring availability of necessary material.
  • Manage production control staff to meet the needs of order release and production as well as associated operational administration activities required for daily operation.
  • Lead biweekly production and backlog meetings.
  • Special projects as assigned to improve efficiency and reporting within Planning function.

Education/ Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Proven experience as Production Planner (5+ years)
  • Experience in MRP (Microsoft D365 a plus)

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP systems
  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
