Component Design Engineer

Indianapolis, IN

As an Inlets, Nacelles, Installations & Exhaust (INIE) Design Engineer you will help deliver the design, analysis, testing, and certification of primarily Installations hardware for NPI programs (F130, FLRAA, LiftFan Block 5, etc). The successful candidate will deliver new product designs, initially, for the FLRAA program, but can be potentially assigned to other programs as company needs demand.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the development of INIE components on programs as assigned.
  • Identify and deliver improvement projects for INIE components to increase reliability, cost, and weight.
  • Provide design engineering mentoring for less experienced engineers in the Rolls-Royce Design Space system.
  • Ensure project risks (technical, cost, supply chain and schedule) are identified and managed in accordance with the risk management plan.
  • Engage in technical, manufacturing and supply chain issues and opportunities to enable quick decision making.

Basic Requirements

  • Experience with the Rolls-Royce Design Space Engineering Change Management system is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 2+ years of experience in Aerospace, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering OR;
  • A Masters degree in Engineering OR;
  • JD/PhD
  • To be considered for this opportunity, you must be a US Citizen

Preferred Requirements

  • Technical writing ability / experience
  • Design experience with INIE hardware (i.e. brackets, tubes, harnesses, etc.)
  • Experience working in a New Product Introduction environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience working with all aspects of product design – customers, suppliers, other engineering specialties, shop floor personnel, etc
