Cordance is looking for a Credit and Collections Specialist to join our finance team! They will be responsible for specific business unit collection efforts for the company's consolidated accounts receivable. This role drives the organization's collection objectives, ensuring timely payments and resolving billing issues. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, a strong ability to resolve customer disputes, and the capability to multitask in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

This is a fully remote role, all candidates must reside in the US with work authorization

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the company's accounts receivable and collections across multiple business units both domestically and internationally
  • Initiate collection efforts on past-due accounts through phone calls and emails, with a goal of consistently reducing past due accounts, maximizing cash collections, and minimizing bad debt expenses
  • Manage the reminder process for customers with outstanding balances
  • Assist with processing customer payments, as needed
  • Research and document customer complaints and disputes and seek management approval for credits or refunds when appropriate
  • Review payments to identify and resolve cash application discrepancies
  • Collaborate with business units to review overdue accounts monthly, providing recommendations and assistance on collections
  • Provide insights to management on delinquency trends, collectability, and contract cancellations that may impact financial performance
  • Suggest process improvements to streamline internal functions, with a focus on reducing overdue accounts, delinquencies, improving early cancellation recoveries, and minimizing bad debt
  • Document all processes and procedures related to collections
  • Complete vendor forms as required
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding accounts receivable issues via email
  • Participate in other critical projects upon request and audit requests
  • Address and resolve ad hoc collection issues as they arise, escalating to management when necessary
  • Reporting responsibilities could include month end reconciliations, accounts receivable aging, and bad debt monitoring

Qualifications:

  • 5 years plus of experience in collections, working with collection agencies and customers
  • In-depth knowledge of credit reporting regulations and practices
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills for securing timely payments
  • Expertise in collection practices
  • Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Office, and PC skills
  • Ability to quickly assess detailed data and make sound decisions
  • Capable of working efficiently under tight deadlines and handling high volumes of work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field, preferred
  • Experience in B2B collections
  • Knowledge of credit risk analysis and financial statements
  • Familiarity with Netsuite and collection software tools
