NASC GLOBAL, a leading HR consulting and management firm, is conducting a confidential search for our esteemed client for an onsite Controls Engineer located inCarrizo Springs, TX.

The salary compensation for this role is$100,000 – $120,000, contingent on work experience, certifications, education, etc.

The role will report directly to the Vice President of Electrical Engineering & Automation and Plant Manager. This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation and Maintenance: Execute the installation, modification, and repair of automated industrial control equipment
  • Software Proficiency: Demonstrate a strong understanding of software utilized within programmable logic control (PLC) systems
  • Design and Planning: Design, plan, install, and maintain industrial control equipment and instrumentation, including loop controls, variable frequency drives, control panels, and load balancing systems
  • System Knowledge: Possess a thorough understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
  • Availability: Must be available to work off shifts, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the maintenance team to assist in routine planned maintenance and emergency repairs of plant equipment, including conveyors, bucket elevators, and washing/drying systems
  • Troubleshooting: Conduct troubleshooting of mechanical equipment, PLCs, ladder diagrams, AC and DC circuits, electrical sensors and switches, motor controls, servo controllers, and safety circuits
  • Motor Repair: Install, troubleshoot, and repair electric motors and equipment at voltages of 120, 240, and 480V
  • Tool Proficiency: Demonstrate knowledge of basic hand tools and machine shop equipment, as well as the proper use of all test equipment required for the repair of production equipment (e.g., dryers, bag houses/dust collectors)
  • Preventive Maintenance: Complete preventive maintenance tasks as scheduled and document all completed work
  • Vendor Coordination: Liaise with vendors regarding the procurement of replacement parts for all equipment
  • Transportation: May operate a company pick-up truck or maintenance vehicle within the plant and/or to retrieve parts from local vendors

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; an Associate's degree is preferred
  • Experience: A minimum of four years of combined education and industrial experience is required
  • Electrical Background: Strong machine electrical background, including knowledge of hardwired controls, digital and analog I/O, and the ability to read electrical schematics and P&IDs
  • PLC Programming: Proven experience in PLC programming, specifically with Allen Bradley RSLogix and Studio 5000, including networking experience (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, etc.). This includes writing, debugging, developing, and troubleshooting PLCs
  • HMI Programming: Demonstrated experience in HMI programming, particularly with Wonderware InTouch and Historian, with a preference for System Platform experience. Responsibilities include developing, debugging, and troubleshooting HMIs
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in a Windows and server environment, with the ability to load and configure various software on servers and PCs
  • Adverse Conditions: Ability to work in adverse conditions such as heat, moisture, cold, and noise
  • Problem Solving: Competence in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues
  • Reading Prints: Proficient in reading mechanical and electrical schematics
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical skills with a strong ability to interpret data
  • Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with safety practices, including lockout/tagout procedures, MSHA, NFPA 70E, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills are essential
