The Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments (NVCOG) seeks candidates for the position of Environmental Planner / Brownfield Project Manager to join the agency’s Environmental Planning Team. This position will be part of an interdisciplinary team working on regional planning efforts, aiding member municipalities, and working on projects of regional importance. The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of environmental issues impacting the region, and a desire to use their skills to help build a safer, more resilient, equitable, and sustainable region, and improve the health and quality of life of residents

Responsibilities

Typical assignments will include:

• Developing and maintaining the regional brownfields inventory database in Excel and GIS.

• Developing and reviewing RFQs, RFPs, cost estimates, bid packages

• Reviewing and processing invoices on multi-funded projects

• Creating agendas, memorandums, and PowerPoint presentations for meetings of the Regional Brownfields Partnership and assisting with presentations at meetings

• Assisting lead staff in reviews of brownfield sites for feasibility of assessment and cleanup

Qualifications

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in environmental science(s) or related field of study (Planning, Environment, Natural Resources, Public Administration) or equivalent experience. A post graduate degree is preferred, but relevant environmental experience may be considered in lieu.
