Are you looking for an opportunity to make a difference in our community? We’re seeking a Director of Community Development to develop, oversee, and coordinate neighborhood revitalization efforts in Harrisburg!

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate community revitalization programming to include planning processes and implementation strategies.
  • Implement plan objectives using revitalization tools, such as rehabilitation programs; existing state and federal funding sources and grant opportunities; administrative procedures; political mechanisms and legal processes.
  • Oversee and lead physical improvement projects, which includes preparing Requests for Proposal bidding documents, coordinating the contracting process, and monitoring for execution of activities.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain departmental budgets and cost allocation plans, and provide support in the grant process to include seeking and soliciting grant funding.
  • Network, participate, and attend related meetings with other relevant agencies, and plan, implement, facilitate, and/or attend special events in the community.
  • Provides leadership to direct reports through effective communication, coaching, training, performance management and employee development. Supports recruitment efforts to include interviewing and on-boarding.
  • Ensure the development and maintenance of a database for groups, businesses, organizations, volunteers and any other entity or individual involved with targeted neighborhoods, as well as maintenance of identified use and condition of local properties.
  • All other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Four years of experience in program/project management. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience managing or overseeing community revitalization initiatives preferred.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, including crisis/conflict management skills.
  • Must be comfortable with public speaking and represent the agency in a professional manner.
  • Be comfortable in engaging with stakeholders in a variety of settings.
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekend or evening hours.
  • State Police, Child Abuse, and FBI clearances.
  • Motor Vehicle Driving clearances.
  • Valid PA Driver’s License with Insurance.
  • Reliable transportation available daily.
  • Ability to travel within 3-county service region. Travel 25% per month.
