Role: SCCM Packaging Desktop Engineer

Location: Remote is Fine (Needham, MA) (Hybrid preferred)

Contract: 12+ Months

Keys to the Position:

  • Packaging exp must.
  • Ideally 7-10 years of Desktop Engineering experience and MUST HAVE 5-6 years of experience with SCCM and 1-2 years experience with Intune
  • 2-4 years of experience with PowerShell
  • High-Level troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in the MS Windows ecosystem .

Qualifications

  • 5-10+ Years of experience in Desktop Engineering or similar discipline.
  • Understand infrastructure security best-practices such as zero-trust, least-access, MFA, etc.
  • Experience in implementing and managing enterprise configuration management tools such as SCCM, Intune and Ivanti.
  • Have high familiarity with building and customizing Windows and Thin (gel/Wise) images.
  • Exposure to Cloud based technologies such as Azure and AWS.
  • High level of technical expertise with Microsoft products such as Office 365, Teams and Active Directory.
  • Understand ITIL best practices and processes and Project Management Methodology (PIMM) fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated skill in solving problems with coding languages such as PowerShell, VBScript or Python.
  • Knowledge of post-implementation environments and ability to follow through on Day 2 to ensure infrastructure stability.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to write complex documents (may include policies, procedures and/or presentations).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction or oversight.

Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform Software Packaging tasks in preparation for deployment via Microsoft SCCM and Intune Optimize and Automate current Software Packaging process using PowerShell to help reduce SLA times
  • Prepare new Microsoft Windows OS versions for use with SCCM Task Sequences and for VDI use Proficient in deploying software packages via the PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit and other software deployment Standardizing tools Modifying SCCM and Intune Task Sequences to update with new software and driver updates Leverages monitoring tools such as Splunk, Vrops, Control Up, et al to shorten IT reaction times and enhance the user experience.
  • Working with the leadership to define and enforce the Desktop Architectural Standards and identifying areas for improvement. Assisting in the overall design, installation and integration of IT Desktop solutions throughout the enterprise. Tracks technology and market trends to acquire knowledge on new and existing technologies that could best serve the Desktop architecture needs.
  • Analyze business cases for upgrading existing infrastructure technologies or implementing a new infrastructure solution Leverage automation (scripts/schedule tasks) to convert repeatable process and solutions to automatic operation Train other IT professionals (tier 1 and tier 2 support) on the developed solutions and expected impact.
