Position Description

This position is for an Electronics Technician in the China Lake Mobile Threats System Engineering and Operations Branch. The Branch provides Mobile Emitter design, installation, operation and maintenance to test and training ranges, both CONUS and OCONUS.

The incumbent will support operations of the Mobile Emitter Systems (MOB-E). Will perform non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity in support of radio frequency (RF) controlled threat simulators, to include operating Remote Target Vehicle Systems and RF Data Links, utilizing diagnostic tools, soldering, wire installation and repair, and computer hardware and software operations. They will assist in the performance of test, evaluation and troubleshooting of target systems used to assess aircraft threat vulnerability and survivability technology applications.

Operations support both land and sea ranges. Land Range support is on remote test and training ranges and will require extended work periods in various weather conditions. Sea Range Support will require at sea vessel transfers and emitter equipment operation in small target vessels in up to sea state 3 conditions. Position requires travel of up to 15% of the work year.

Specialized experience must include;

  • Perform operation and maintenance of complex electrical and mechanical systems in the field, following defined safety procedures and practices
  • Maintain documentation on equipment to include status, usage, repairs and condition
  • Setup, operation, and maintenance of various types of electronic systems for use in support of systems testing on test and training Ranges.
  • Candidate should have basic computer skills needed for operation of computer aided control systems.

Additional Technical duties include;

  • Candidate will be required to work at elevation requiring fall protection certification and safe use of fall protection equipment.
  • Candidate will maintain inventory control and maintenance records code and customer equipment.
  • Maintain the availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency of mobile threat systems including preventative, routine, and corrective maintenance.
