The Control Systems Technician is responsible for the installation, servicing, and repair of environmental control systems in office buildings, production areas, and other industrial type establishments. This role includes the installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of Direct Digital and Pneumatic Control systems. The technician identifies system malfunctions, diagnoses issues, and performs necessary physical repairs or reprogramming. Additionally, the technician keeps a detailed log of control systems and prepares and submits relevant reports. Routine programming on various types of Direct Digital controls is also part of the job.
System design and programming: The technician designs, and programs operational control systems, including creating an operational database hierarchy. The role involves conducting software and network analysis of the system, creating backups as required, and generating reports using tools like Microsoft Word and Excel. The technician continually assesses the condition of systems, recommending and implementing the replacement or repair of components or units as necessary.
Repairing or replacing pneumatic control systems: The technician analyzes requirements, designs system configurations, determines the sequence of programming, identifies replacement components, and purchases and installs Direct Digital and pneumatic control systems. They also install, test, and field-verify a complete Graphical User Interface, providing end-user training on using web-based graphics to control the system. Necessary programming adjustments are made to account for field conditions, and field reports and as-built documentation are maintained and updated. Finally, the technician ensures the uniform and proper installation of controls in accordance with company and National Electric Code standards, verifying compliance with OSHA and company regulations. May be required to assist HVAC Technicians on HVAC repairs/ installs as needed.
