Seattle Reign FC is a prominent professional women's soccer team competing in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Soccer Operations manages logistics, player management, player safety and facilities operations for our team, requiring strong organizational skills, leadership, and professional sports experience, preferably in soccer. Responsibilities include coordinating team travel, overseeing training and match logistics, managing pre-season camps, and acting as the primary contact for player HR and administrative issues. The director liaises with the NWSL league office, ensures matchday operations at Lumen Field meet standards, supervises operational teams, and coordinates with Starfire on building maintenance. We seek a leader with a proven track record in sports events and operations management, deep soccer operations knowledge, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Logistics

  • Manage the team’s training, travel, and competition calendar.
  • Schedule and oversee logistics for training sessions and matches.
  • Manage pre-season training camps, including facility selection and practice match arrangements.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for the team, including flights, accommodations, and transportation.
  • Manage the flow of information between coaching staff, technical staff, VMAC Business Office, and NWSL league offices.
  • Develop and maintain the department budget, ensuring financial responsibility

Player Management

  • Act as the primary contact for player HR and administrative issues.
  • Serve as the liaison with NWSL league office for player-related HR, administrative, and competitive matters.
  • Coordinate with the league immigration attorney for player visa and green card matters.

Player Safety

  • Serve as a main point of escalation for any Player concerns (including as a Club administrator for RealResponse), maintaining anonymity when desired by the Player(s)
  • Support the response process / investigation of a reported incident, ensuring the Player(s) are provided the appropriate resources and communication cadence on progress of the matter
  • Support the delivery of all aspects of the NWSL Safety Strategies within the Club, including but not limited to promoting participation in Player feedback surveys and ensuring training requirements are met by all Club participants
  • Collaborate with the NWSLPA and the NWSL Player Safety Officer, including through league-wide Player Safety Officer continuous education and check-in meetings
  • Provide NWSL, including the league Player Safety Officer, with feedback from the Club and Players on future improvements to safeguarding policies and practices
  • Drive the approach to promote an engaging, inclusive, and safe soccer environment
  • Educate all Club participants on processes, procedures, and guidelines for safeguarding standards
  • Cooperate and comply with NWSL’s health and safety policies and procedures
  • Attend required NWSL-led Player Safety Officer training
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date safeguarding

Facilities Management

  • Oversee matchday logistics at Lumen Field to meet team and league standards.
  • Manage on-field oversight, locker room management, and medical team coordination.
  • Oversee the preparation and execution of Reign match days at Lumen Field.
  • Oversee all team security needs in partnership with the Security Director.
  • Partner with Starfire to coordinate building maintenance and construction related to team usage.
  • Ensure daily needs of the team(s) are met by the on-site food provider.
  • Maintain standards for training and matches for all Reign team.
  • Manage relationships with Starfire vendors and staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years demonstrated experience in team administration, operations management, or a similar role in professional sports or high level collegiate sports; soccer experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage diverse teams, including experience with staff development and performance management.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to handle various tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to have difficult conversations surrounding trauma, psychological and physical safety, and other related matters
  • Ability to maintain discretion and provide fair and transparent approaches to
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with players, coaches, league officials, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address issues and implement effective solutions.
  • High attention to detail to ensure all logistical and administrative tasks are accurately managed.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and provide fair and transparent approaches to
  • Team-player attitude; Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Experience in developing and managing departmental budgets, ensuring financial responsibility.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software for managing schedules, budgets, and communications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This is an in-person position working from Starfire Sports Complex and Lumen Field.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must reside within Washington state upon date of hire.
  • Must be able to facilitate own local travel.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Responsibilities include regular work outdoors and may require standing on feet for long periods of time, as well as some lifting of up to 20 pounds.

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000. Base pay at time of offer will take into account job-related knowledge, skills and experience required for the role, internal equity and market.
