Using Slack and Google Suite of Software to communicate and set up meetings with internal stakeholders and software suppliers. Building out Google slide decks (negotiation strategy, Executive Summary, Value Proposition, etc.), creating agreement records in contract management tool, partnering with legal on terms and conditions for renewals and new supplier onboarding. Attending team meetings to review and discuss engagements and challenges.

Must have skills: Experience procuring tech sourcing items for a large fortune 500 company (software, telecom, hardware, etc.) for this position software experience would be ideal for the position. Must know how to build negotiation strategies and have a focus on cost saving and cost avoidance. Needs to be a self starter that is not afraid to ask questions and drive results. The individual will need to have excellent communication skills as they will be working with suppliers and executive stakeholders. Must be a team player that enjoys partnering with others.

Teachable skills: Software negotiation strategies, Software Supplier Landscape, Salesforce Org. structure, PR/PO Creation process, Contract Management Tool

Position will reside on the software team. Immediate software team size is 4 employees reporting to Director, extended software team size is 10 total under Sr. Director. Tech Sourcing Org.(Hardware, Telecom, Software, Cloud, Data Center) has about 100 people total combined.

Job Description

The Commodity Manager is an individual contributor who is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies as well as recommending product innovations based on improving technology. This individual will negotiate, administer, and manage the full range of commercial contracts focusing on client software and SaaS needs. The Commodity Manager will also manage the overall business-to-business relationships between Salesforce and strategic software suppliers through day-to-day interactions and supplier business reviews, while achieving cost-effective procurement decisions for the company.

This position will be located in San Francisco, CA, Indianapolis, ID, Bellevue, WA or a remote US location reporting into the Director of Software on the Technology Sourcing Team.

Performance Objectives

  • Direct and implement software related supplier-sourcing strategies to ensure high quality, on time delivery, and cost competitiveness.
  • Good understanding of business contract law, and experience with negotiating contracts for the licensing of software; both SaaS and conventional.
  • Documented results with implementing standard procurement best practices, building strong relationships with internal customers and suppliers, and consulting on procurement best practices for cross-functional project teams.
  • Utilize RFI (Request for Information), RFP (Request for Proposal), and RFQ (Request for Quote) techniques to identify, select, and engage with suppliers to ensure competitive market advantage.
  • Implement proactive procurement philosophies, strategies, policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Implement integration efforts related M&A activity for software categories
  • Influence cross-functional organizations while enhancing strong internal relationships in order to meet business requirements and cost objectives.
  • Responsible for supplier management within the software category with objective to monitor and improve supplier performance where applicable.
