We are looking for a talented Technical Project Leader Product Specialist to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Software and Electronics in Columbus, IN.
Job Summary:
This dual product/project focused position leads the overall technical coordination of lower complexity product development activities and is accountable for the project management of technical risk and quality of the product up to and including early production. This position integrates the requirements of the many interdisciplinary and cross functional stakeholders of product development, often involving difficult decisions that impact cost and delivery without sacrifice to the quality expectations of the value package profile.

Base Salary : 96,000.00 - 144,000.00 USD ANNUAL

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Product Development Execution, Monitoring, and Control: Coordinate and oversee product development activities, ensuring alignment with requirements and technical profiles, while proactively mitigating risks and maintaining quality standards.
- Product Function Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis: Utilize computational tools to influence design decisions, ensuring product functions meet system, sub-system, and component requirements.
- Product Problem Solving: Implement data-driven solutions to resolve product issues, safeguarding customer interests and addressing root causes to prevent future occurrences.
- Product Verification and Validation Management: Create validation plans to identify potential failure modes, manage product risks, and ensure that product capabilities are thoroughly verified and meet all requirements.
- System Requirements Engineering: Translate stakeholder needs into verifiable system requirements, manage changes, and maintain traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
- Systems Thinking: Apply a holistic approach to define and analyze the system of interest, predicting behavior and devising modifications to achieve desired outcomes.
- Building Networks: Forge strong formal and informal relationships within and outside the organization to support business objectives.
- Effective Communication: Develop and deliver communications tailored to diverse audiences, ensuring clear understanding of messages and objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, to be successful you will need the following:
- Negotiation and Collaboration: Ability to obtain input and negotiate with program leadership, customers, and technical teams to deliver robust designs and coordinated deliverables.
- Decision-Making: Proficiency in making design and project risk trade-off decisions that impact cost and delivery without compromising quality.
- Process and Tool Mastery: Familiarity with business processes like PPT, VPI, CPS, and tools such as PDSS, iDFMEA, VOC/VOX, MS Office Suite, NUD, and VPI-PPM for high-quality decision-making.
- Leadership: Independent leadership of projects or complex components with full accountability, and the ability to guide and influence technical direction within a project team.
- Work Process Management: Leads the development and improvement of work processes and systems across a functional discipline within a business unit.
- Mentorship: Coordinates work among technicians and student employees, transferring knowledge to less experienced engineers.
- Specialized Expertise: Operates as a recognized specialist in a specific discipline or product area.
- Core Competencies: Demonstrated capabilities in systems thinking, managing complexity, and project management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
- College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
- Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
- Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.
- Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred.
