PTS Advance has an immediate opening for a Lab Technician at our client's site in Wilmington, CA. This is a short-term contract with the possibility of being extended.
This position performs routine analyses to ensure reliable operations, improve profitability and safety, and ensure regulatory compliance, while learning and following analytical standards and methods at the company. Knowledge of lab equipment, terminology and standard laboratory procedures and 2 or more years of experience working in petroleum laboratory and experience in instrument repair is highly desirable.Responsible for complying with Laboratory policies and procedures, company policies and procedures, established standards, and governmental regulations (Federal, State and Local).
Local Candidates only, NO Per diem.
$35 - 38.00 hr. DOE
10 days of PTO
40 hr. Work week (willing to work overtime)
Job Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required
Ability to work alone as well as in a team
Able to work 12-hour rotating shift schedule
Computer proficiency (MS Office)
Willing and able to perform and comply with the following items, with or without accommodation:
To lift up to 50 pounds
To work around chemicals, including acids and bases
To wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toed shoes, ear and eye protection)
maintain your face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven) if applicable
To work outside in harsh weather conditions
To work with petroleum products that are under high pressure and heat.
To learn computer software associated with process operations
Preferred Qualifications
BS Degree in Science, or AS Degree in Chemical Technology or 16 hours of college level Chemistry course work
2 years experience in lab environment
Good interpersonal skills including active listening, issue resolution, proactive communication, leadership and teamwork.

Have a valid Drivers LIcense
Ability to acquire a TWIC (transportation worker Identication card)
