Job description:
A property and casualty client is seeking a Senior Catastrophe Modeling Analyst to join a team with expertise in natural hazards, catastrophe risk and insurance risk modeling. This professional will provide support to our high net worth homeowners business while also working as part of the corporate enterprise risk management team on broader projects.

Responsibilities:
Produce the monthly portfolio modeling report and share insights with senior management.
Produce modeled catastrophe bond (CAT) analysis to be used in property pricing, portfolio optimization and aggregation management. This includes running scenario impact analyses with product and actuarial teams, as well as assessing the impact of possible rate, deductible or guideline changes.
Produce pre-bind analysis for large property new business submissions.
Work with the analytics team to ensure accurate reporting of data for modeling.
Collaborate with the actuarial team to develop appropriate CAT loads for rate reviews.
Work with the claims and actuarial teams to develop estimates of the ultimate CAT losses post events.
Review and understand the impact of historical or probable CAT events on the book of business.
Perform comparison studies on CAT performance relative to peers following CAT events.
Build quarterly catastrophe modeling and aggregation reports for the company and its subsidiaries.
Create property exposure visualization and mapping.
Develop and implement improved catastrophe reporting processes.
Assisting in the completion of rating agency and regulatory returns.
Become an active participant in the catastrophe management team by sharing knowledge, expertise and information within the organization.
Provide catastrophe modeling and analysis through the entire modeling cycle.

Requirements:
Bachelor s degree in a relevant discipline
5+ years of catastrophe modeling work experience
Beginner SQL skills; advanced SQL skills (preferred)
Microsoft Excel skills; visual basic for application programming experience (preferred)
Python or Power BI skills (preferred)
Experience analyzing and reporting on data from large relational databases
Strong mathematical and statistical skills
Advanced working knowledge of catastrophe modeling techniques; strong RMS RiskLink knowledge (preferred)
Willingness to interact with operating companies
Enthusiastic, proactive and inquiring personality
Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple assignments, work well with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to express CAT modeling concepts in a way that can be understood by a wide range of insurance and reinsurance practitioners
Interest in participating in a range of projects, some of which will not be traditional CAT modeling in nature
