Pain Specialists of America (“PSA” or “Company”) is a Texas-based, multisite comprehensive pain management company that includes over 16 locations, three ASCs, and a CLIA-certified laboratory located in New Braunfels. The Personal Injury Coordinator and all PSA employees must demonstrate an absolute commitment to excellence, respect and delivery of the highest quality patient care. The Personal Injury Coordinator must maintain all technical standards to meet continuous quality improvement needs, financial and delivery requirements.

Job Summary

The Personal Injury Coordinator position requires a strong medical business office background and the ability to oversee the day-to-day functions of the personal injury treatment process, but not limited to, record retrieval, authorizations, customer service, professionalism when speaking with attorneys, other medical providers and patients. Understanding of our scheduling and authorization systems, as well as documentation processes. The Personal Injury Coordinator requires an in-depth knowledge of the personal injury department’s operating practices, and procedures; relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Record Retrieval – Review medical records and claims and upload to designated location(s) to move treatment along for our patient(s)
  • Build and Upload New Patient Accounts – Process and document scheduling requests from Law Firms, referring physicians, or self-referrals. Upload individual records and corresponding Letters of Protection to each patient’s account and located under the respective firm’s account profile.
  • Patient Scheduling – Assist in managing personal injury scheduling inbox and incoming faxes. Contact each respective firm within 24 hours to process their request.
  • Department Reporting – Manage and update various reports for optimal tracking of pending authorizations amongst other types of requests the department may receive. Must be knowledgeable in Word and Excel.
  • Account Management—Knowledge of eCW. The ability to properly manage records, upload them into the appropriate account and patient’s chart. Playing close attention to detail and correcting any errors you may come across in patient accounts.

Requirements

Education and Technical Skills

  • 1-3 years of work experience in a medical business office setting
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Must possess good problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of personal injury cases and treatment processes
