As a Metallurgical Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting metallurgical testing and analysis efforts. Your work will directly contribute to the accurate evaluation of metal properties, helping to ensure the quality and performance of materials used in various projects. This onsite, project-based position is working for our world-class gold mining client.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sample Preparation:

    • Prepare metal samples for testing, including cutting, accurately riffling, and splitting samples.
    • Ensure all samples are properly labeled and documented.
  2. Testing and Analysis:

    • Conduct metallurgical tests such as microhardness, tensile, and impact tests.
    • Perform microscopy analysis (e.g., optical, scanning electron microscopy) to examine and interpret microstructures.
  3. Data Collection and Interpretation:

    • Record test results with precision and compile data for analysis.
    • Interpret metallurgical data to provide insights into material performance and quality.
  4. Reporting:

    • Prepare detailed reports of test results, including graphical representations where necessary.
    • Present findings to senior metallurgists or project managers as required.
  5. Equipment Maintenance:

    • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition.
    • Perform routine checks and calibrations as needed to maintain accuracy.
  6. Compliance and Safety:

    • Strictly adhere to all safety protocols and procedures within the lab environment.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Labor, trade, or hands-on experience with metallurgical testing equipment and techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and report writing.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
  • Must be based in the Fairbanks, Alaska area.
