GROW After School Intervention Program

Tutors will have the responsibility for providing support that improves student achievement; with an overall goal of advancing the academic skills needed for success. Tutors will work with Elementary and Junior High students to provide them with support in the needed subject matter according to a planned curriculum.

In accordance with each pupil’s lesson plan, Tutors will work to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to achieve a quality education. They will cultivate a student-centered environment which fosters relationships and promotes continual growth for students and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Provides targeted instruction for identified students
  • Supports reading/math instruction using a structured tutoring process in accordance with the established curriculum and instruction strategies
  • Uses approved tools and appropriate technology applications for instruction
  • Monitors students’ progress and completes reports on the students’ progress as established by the administration
  • Serves as a character educator, maintaining a classroom that is safe, nurturing, and productive, where the teacher models the behavior expected of students, and where the school’s values are the focus of instruction and discussion wherever appropriate
  • Creates and manages a responsive learning environment that enables students to feel safe, to be creative, and to develop to their full potential
  • Adapts instructional techniques to meet the diverse needs of individual students
  • Helps ensure the learning environment is dynamic and conducive to high-level learning

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college/university or its equivalent
  • Valid Missouri Teacher Certification (possessing only a Substitute certification does not qualify)
  • Possesses knowledge of the core processes, skills, and content of the subject matter being taught
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students

Schedule

Hours: 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm

Reading Intervention - Monday and Tuesday

Math Intervention - Wednesday and Thursday

Length of Work Assignment: September 30, 2024 to December 19, 2024

Compensation

The rate is $30.00 per hour. This position is a non-exempt temporary position, with no benefits.
