Position Summary

In a role where precision meets innovation, Heirloom’s Remote Director of Data & Insights will lead our data strategies with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every decision is both accurate and impactful.

As our Director of Data & Insights, you will be free to take charge of our data-driven strategies, driving critical decisions that shape the future of our business. You’ll lead a talented, remote team across different regions, bringing your expertise and vision to every project. Your systematic, results-focused mindset will be crucial in optimizing revenue outcomes, automating key business processes, and guiding our data engineering and science initiatives.

What will your work entail?

You will oversee the full stack of data engineering and science products, along with third-party channel-integrated platforms, ensuring that our methods are technically sound, innovative, and aligned with our strategic goals. With accountability at the core of your role, you’ll be empowered to manage assignments that directly impact Heirloom’s success. Your work will also include regular travel to Heirloom markets, where you’ll see the tangible results of your efforts and refine our strategies on the ground.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Heirloom’s executive team and department directors to align data strategy with business goals.
  • Provide product-manager-style direction to data engineering and analytics teams.
  • Democratize data access and reporting across the organization to empower decision-making.
  • Unlock business insights using systematic reporting and ad hoc analyses at various levels.
  • Champion the optimization of our pricing algorithm and leverage best-in-class vendors.
  • Optimize property-level revenue in response to live market conditions.
  • Utilize SEO and review data to maximize product visibility on marketplaces.
  • Maximize customer acquisition and journey impact through our booking platform (Guesty) and third-party channels like Airbnb and VRBO.
  • Oversee digital advertising and online brand presence to ensure effective customer engagement.
  • Drive automation initiatives that ensure stakeholders have timely access to crucial information.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Experience in managing digital products, analytics, or engineering with oversight of cloud IT infrastructure, data pipelines, data warehousing, and software engineering.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and data scientific methods applicable in dynamic industry contexts.
  • Strong command of SQL and experience with BI & data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.
  • Ability to travel to one of Heirloom’s markets each quarter.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a remote team across different regions

Desirable

  • Product-management skills with a keen understanding of business needs and the ability to distill these into data and tech stack requirements.
  • Experience in revenue strategy within dynamic markets.
  • Leadership experience in optimizing digital customer acquisition and analyzing P&Ls or real estate metrics.
  • A passion for clear, concise communication of complex analyses.
  • Experience in leading and motivating virtual teams across different regions.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual Salary: $175,000 - 240,000 annually

Bonus Details

  • Additional bonus opportunities tied to revenue performance outcomes.

Schedule

  • The Director is generally expected to be available during regular business hours (M-F, 9-5)
  • This role is responsible for a live pricing system, some occasional after hours adjustments or responses may be required.
  • Expected travel to Heirloom markets // corporate office locations every 8-12 weeks.
