Position Overview: This role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, working closely with senior management on various financial issues and projects. The ideal candidate will be a skilled financial professional with a strong understanding of business operations and financial processes. The ability to integrate finance with operations and collaborate effectively with leadership is essential. Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with ASC standards, including ASC 606 and ASC 842.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and senior management on financial analysis, CAPEX requests, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Maintain adequate internal controls to safeguard financial assets, adhering to SOX controls and accounting policies.
  • Review balance sheet accounts monthly to confirm proper reconciliation and documentation.
  • Analyze and review P&L accounts to support the month-end closing process, including cost analysis and evaluations.
  • Lead and develop accounting staff while fostering positive relationships across all lines of business.
  • Set and execute development goals for accounting staff, focusing on professional growth and succession planning.
  • Coordinate financial reporting, payables, billing, collections, and payroll across departments.
  • Facilitate requests and documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Recommend and lead initiatives to improve financial and management performance.
  • Work on ad hoc projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance; CMA, CPA, or MBA highly preferred.
  • Experience in the construction industry or multi-unit operations is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively as both a leader and team member.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements:
  • Strong Accounting Principles: In-depth knowledge of GAAP and relevant ASC standards (e.g., ASC 606, ASC 842) as they apply to financial reporting and construction operations.
  • Financial Reporting: Expertise in preparing and analyzing financial statements, ensuring compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements.
  • Cost Accounting: Ability to implement and manage cost accounting systems, including job costing, project budgeting, and variance analysis.
  • Internal Controls: Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust internal control systems to prevent errors and fraud, with a focus on SOX compliance.
  • Financial Analysis: Proficient in conducting financial analyses, including profitability analysis, trend analysis, and financial modeling to support strategic decisions.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Skilled in developing budgets and forecasts, analyzing variances, and providing actionable insights to management.
  • Tax Compliance: Knowledge of tax regulations relevant to the construction industry, including sales tax, property tax, and payroll tax considerations.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or ERP systems) and advanced proficiency in Excel for financial modeling and reporting.
  • Audit Coordination: Ability to prepare for and coordinate external and internal audits, ensuring all documentation and reconciliations are complete and accurate.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
