Basic Function: Primarily responsible, under direction of the ECHDC President, for the formulation, development, and implementation of planning, design and construction activities and projects in furtherance of ECHDC efforts to revitalize Buffalo s waterfront, in accordance with adopted General Project Plans.
At the direction of the ECHDC President and in coordination with ESD WNY Leadership, this person shall also be available to augment ESD s planning, design and construction capabilities by providing technical support related to capital projects being undertaken through ESD s WNY RO and other WNY-based subsidiaries (Erie County Stadium Corporation, USA Niagara Development Corporation).
Work Performed:
- Lead/support planning, design, and construction of projects (as owner s representative) involving public infrastructure, park improvements, real estate development, property acquisition.
- Lead/support special planning efforts, studies, analyses, cost estimates, grant applications, budget requests, requests for proposals ( RFPs ) for both professional services and development, and other activities necessary to support the development and/or implementation of revitalization initiatives.
- As necessary, procure/manage work of consultants involved in planning, engineering, architecture, transportation, and environmental investigations as they relate to ECHDC capital projects.
- Prepare and assist in the preparation of briefings, summaries, white papers, and other communications.
- Establish/maintain contact with stakeholders, local businesses and government officials and staff.
- Prepare administrative documents, including reports, presentation materials and origination documents.
- Prepare various types of local, state, and federal applications for financial assistance for ECHDC projects.
- Administer all review activities related to compliance with Canalside Design Guidelines for projects within the Canalside District and make periodic refinements of such guidelines to address issues and/or edits as recommended by the Design Review Committee and approved by the ECHDC Board of Directors.
- As necessary, provide selective support for activities in the ESD Western New York ( WNY ) Region.
- Other projects/initiative as assigned by the ECHDC President.
Minimum Requirements
Education Level required: A bachelor s (i.e., professional) degree in architecture, landscape architecture, or engineering; or a master s degree in urban planning, construction management, or related field. Regardless, education/training should be with a development and/or real estate focus.
Relevant experience required: Five (5) years experience in business, institutional, consulting, project management and/or government agency work in planning, development/redevelopment, economic development, construction management or related field, with specific experience in skills involved in real estate/ infrastructure development and construction. Two years of professional experience may be substituted for a master s degree.
APPROXIMATE HIRING SALARY: $80,000 to $85,000 (w/ comprehensive benefits package)
