We are seeking a skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to oversee the maintenance and operation of all mechanical, electrical, and structural systems at Double Tree in Wood Dale IL. The Chief Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and efficiency of the hotel's physical plant, as well as managing a team of maintenance staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership abilities, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance Management:

- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the ongoing operation and longevity of all building systems and equipment.

- Coordinate and supervise maintenance and repair activities, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and building structures.

- Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards.

  • Team Leadership:

- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of maintenance technicians and engineers.

- Provide guidance, support, and performance feedback to maintenance staff.

- Foster a culture of safety, professionalism, and teamwork within the engineering department.

  • Budget and Resource Management:

- Prepare and manage the departmental budget, including forecasting expenses and allocating resources efficiently.

- Source and procure necessary supplies, materials, and equipment for maintenance projects.

- Monitor and control operational costs to optimize departmental efficiency.

  • Compliance and Safety:

- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.

- Maintain accurate records of inspections, permits, and maintenance activities.

- Develop and implement emergency procedures and protocols to address safety and security issues.

  • Project Management:

- Plan and oversee capital improvement projects, renovations, and upgrades to hotel facilities.

- Coordinate with external contractors, vendors, and consultants as needed.

- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and quality standards to ensure successful outcomes.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field; professional certification or licensure preferred.

- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in building maintenance, engineering, or facilities management, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or management role.

- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and maintenance management systems.

- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
