Digital Consultants is seeking a UNIX Administrator to support the Norfolk Naval Shipyard CIO department (Code 109), and the associated network capabilities are currently supporting activities that directly contribute to Navy Fleet readiness. Some of the functions supported by the network include automated tools that enhance the warfighter s ability to execute their mission; support to mission areas such as Fleet logistics, maintenance, ship industrial and maintenance production activities, engineering, supply, legal, readiness, plans and policy, program planning and management, and personnel; hurricane disaster preparedness and response; world-wide support of bases, the war-fighter, and stations; readiness reporting and support; and securing the Homeland. NNSY CIO is responsible for the installation, administration, development, management, and/or maintenance of all networks and systems installed at NNSY and telecommunication services. The CIO provides IT approval for IT purchases made for and by NNSY. This department ensures that all systems and networks operate in a secure manner by implementing and managing an Information Assurance program that meets all Navy and DoD requirements.
Duties to include:
- Provide system administration services for all servers, storage area networks (SANs), and server-hosted applications.
- Perform system administration duties and responsibilities that involve analysis and evaluation of computer networks with primary knowledge requirements of information processing methodology, information technology, computer capabilities, and processing techniques.
- Manage all servers; perform log analysis, error detection, fault correction, backups, and restores; perform startup and shutdown of the systems as required and with prior Government coordination; and build, configure, patch, and upgrade servers, operating systems, and server applications as required and/or mandated by IAVA/IAVB, with prior Government coordination following the security technical information guidance (STIG) and industry best practices.
- Maintain daily operation and problem resolution of systems on the network, operating systems, and the many automated systems and databases it accesses.
- Provide user identity management and authentication support which includes Active Directory management and monitoring, cryptographic logon enablement and support, and user account management in accordance with DISA STIGs and industry best practices. The contractor shall add, delete, and modify user access to the network resources; manage account profiles, permissions, and access to resources; and create accounts.
- Monitor, disable, and remove inactive accounts as well as control permissions.
- Develop and implement plans as a continuous process for the integration of new server and client software and provide technical advice on new requirements to NNSY.
- Review computer output for accuracy and integrity. This includes but is not limited to reviewing output and/or error logs, responding to console messages, resolving problems, and performing reports reconciliation to resolve inconsistent data; verify data accuracy and integrity so that all data accurately matches across multiple reports.
- Develop SAN (Storage Area Network) administration will include configuration, initial installation and upgrade, device management, rendering performance and reliability recommendations, as well as providing recommendations on the integration of SAN products into the NNSY overall computing environment.
- Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly scheduled network backups; restore data as required to support systems and data recovery due to hardware, software, or user error; verify and validate the integrity of the backups. Support Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) updates to the SOP quarterly or as tasked.
- Provide 24x7 on-call technical support as related to operational support of NNSY.
- Participate in the testing process through test review and analysis to ensure flawless computer systems interoperability within the NNSY. Test proposed procedures and operating system patches for correctness and compatibility with existing application software and procedures.
- Assist the Government in developing its Continuity of Operations (COOP) plan to ensure continued operations under all circumstances and across the spectrum of threats, including natural disasters and technological and man-made emergencies. Assist in the COOP testing on a quarterly basis and provide the results to the Government.
- Review enterprise engineering software plans and site information to ensure conformance with current architecture as well as in the development of future changes or enhancements to the command LAN.

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in an IT-related discipline AND four (4) years of experience as described above; OR seven (7) years of relevant experience as described above.
Certifications:
- Information Assurance Workforce (IAWF) DoD 8570 IAT II qualifications.
Minimum Experience:
- Four (4) years of experience as a computer system administrator, of which at least three (3) years must be specialized experience in administrating UNIX. The UNIX Administrator shall have demonstrated experience as described above. Examples of relevant experience may include the following:
- Supporting the Operating System configuration and associated file systems, log files, processes, problem determination, problem resolution, software, administration tools, utilities, security, and hardware.
- Managing the daily activities of configuration and operation of business systems which may be mainframe, mini, or client/server based.
- Expert level experience in Red Hat Linux administration, server virtualization, application/Web server administration Apache/Tomcat/Weblogic, DNS and BIND, oracle directory services, CISCO firewalls routers and switches, and network/storage connectivity configuration and troubleshooting.
