Location: Various locations across British Columbia

As a Mechanical Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting mechanical systems and installations to ensure they comply with local codes, regulations, and safety standards. Your role will be essential in maintaining the safety and operational efficiency of mechanical systems within the jurisdiction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect mechanical systems, equipment, and installations to ensure compliance with local codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Review mechanical plans and specifications to verify they meet all required regulations and technical requirements.
  • Conduct inspections of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, elevators, and other mechanical installations at various stages of construction and operation.
  • Identify and document violations, deficiencies, or hazards in mechanical systems and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records of inspections, compliance, and enforcement actions.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to contractors, engineers, and property owners regarding mechanical codes and safety practices.
  • Respond to inquiries and complaints related to mechanical installations and code compliance.
  • Stay updated on changes in mechanical codes, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure accurate inspections and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other municipal departments and agencies to address and resolve mechanical-related issues.

Requirements
  • Relevant certification or diploma in Mechanical Inspection, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a mechanical inspector or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of mechanical codes and safety regulations.
  • Excellent observational and analytical skills for assessing mechanical systems and identifying issues.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with contractors, engineers, and municipal officials.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills for managing inspection reports and records.
  • Ability to stay current with evolving mechanical codes, regulations, and industry practices.
