Autonomy Systems Program Manager Position Opening
Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) accelerates development and fielding of innovative commercial technology to the hands of the DoD, and requires personnel with ability and experience in using novel acquisition approaches to acquire technologies and transitioning projects to PEOs, program offices, and end users across all military services. DIU projects are rapid prototyping efforts with a total internal budget of $60 million and leveraging over $200+ million from Department of Defense partners.
An Autonomy Program Manager will lead the creation of collaborative teams of DoD and commercial entities partnered to successfully deliver commercial solutions to DoD customers. An Autonomy Program Manager will oversee the development and execution of project solicitations and manage, in conjunction with acquisition professionals, competitive selection processes with industry partners and government stakeholders that lead to prototype other transaction agreements awards. Duties include: Identification of DoD problems that could be solved by commercial autonomous solutions, develop program goals and plans for implementation collaboratively with DoD entities, customers, and program offices, and manage the relationships between DoD customers and commercial entities required for successful program execution. DIU Program Managers oversee autonomy projects involving strategy, implementation and technical delivery.
An ideal candidate for this position possesses strong project management skills and experience, and experience with employment or technical development of autonomous systems. Candidates do not need to possess formal defense acquisition experience (i.e. DAWIA Certifications), but cost, schedule, and performance planning and execution is preferred. Candidates should expect to PCS to DIU in Arlington, VA within 9 months of being selected for this position.
