This position requires a U.S Person or a person who can qualify for a Department of State or Department of Commerce License.

The salary range for this position is between $130,000 and $170,000 and will depend upon experience.

Position Summary:

As a Hardware Engineer you will design, develop, and test leading edge communications technology for the industry that we serve. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the hardware meets performance, reliability, and manufacturability standards. This role requires a blend of creativity, technical expertise, and a commitment to quality.

Key Position Accountabilities:

  • Design and Development: Lead the design and development of circuit card assemblies (CCAs) including component selection, schematic capture, and PCB layout support.
  • Verification and Validation: Create and execute test plans, perform simulations, and validate hardware designs to ensure high performance and reliability.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with mechanical engineers, IP developers, and other stakeholders to integrate CCAs into larger systems.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and debug hardware issues during development and production phases.
  • Optimization: Analyze and improve circuit card designs for performance, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability. Address and resolve issues identified during testing and production.
  • Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of design processes, test results, and revisions to ensure clarity and consistency.
  • Planning: Develop plans, schedules, and identify resources required to develop products from market requirement through product release.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior engineers, sharing expertise and best practices in hardware design and development.
  • Continuous Improvement: Take the initiative to research, develop, propose, evaluate and/or implement new methods, processes, techniques, tools, components, or technology that improve quality, timeliness and/or performance of DDC s products.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor s or Master s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Experience: 8-15 years of experience in hardware design and development, including hands-on experience with complex projects that include FPGA s and Microcontroller s.
  • Tool Skills: Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Cadence Orcad, Cadence Allegro).
  • Technical Skills: Proven experience in designing high speed digital designs (e.g. PCI, PCIe, USB and Thunderbolt).
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics, signal integrity, power and thermal management.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience of DO-254 certification process throughout all (SOI) Stages of Involvement phases.
  • Experience with environmental testing standards (e.g., thermal, shock & vibration).
  • Experience with MIL-STD-1553 and ARINC-429.
  • Knowledge of Multi Chip Module (MCM) designs is a plus
