Job Summary: The Senior Healthcare Informatics Specialist / EHR Support Analyst is a critical role that I ntegrates support for clinical information systems, data analytics, and informatics to improve patient care, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making. This position will primarily focus on providing comprehensive support for EHR systems, ensuring HIPAA compliance, and facilitating seamless communication across departments. The role requires advanced technical skills, extensive knowledge of Epic, and a collaborative approach to drive data-driven solutions within our healthcare ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

EHR System Support:

• Provide comprehensive technical and operational support for clinical information systems products and services, with a primary focus on Epic.
• Perform project management and implementation activities for clinical systems, including system upgrades and new feature rollouts.
• Serve as a clinical system super user and administrator, specifically in Epic and other clinical systems.
• Act as a resource for clinical systems industry knowledge and other support activities.
• Resolve clinical-related helpdesk issues assigned in a timely and thorough manner.
• Monitor and manage clinical application performance, including utilization tracking and reporting.
• Check daily refill errors from external pharmacies, manage overdue lab results, and handle rejected lab results.
• Run daily, weekly, and monthly reports to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
• Train lab techs on lab workflows and new staff on EMR system functionalities.
• Support medical records with OnBase back office scanning and install updates as needed.
• Maintain and update system configurations, including Preference List labs, referrals, immunizations, internal formulary medications, orders/supplies, and procedures.
• Create and manage system SmartPhrases, SmartLists, and other SmartTools.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to e-prescribing and other integrated systems.

Strategic Data Analysis

• Lead sophisticated data analyses to extract actionable insights supporting strategic decision-making and improving quality outcomes.
• Utilize advanced statistical techniques to uncover patterns that contribute to improved decision-making.
• Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, IT teams, and stakeholders to elicit nuanced data requirements and bridge the gap between technical intricacies and operational nuances.

HIPAA Governance:

• Serve as the guardian of HIPAA compliance, ensuring meticulous adherence to regulations throughout the data lifecycle.
• Proactively update policies and procedures to reflect evolving healthcare regulations and maintain the highest standards of data security.

Clinical and Informatics Expertise:

• Demonstrate an exceptional grasp of medical concepts, terminologies, and intricate healthcare workflows.
• Translate complex medical requirements into precise technical specifications for accurate and meaningful data representation.
• Provide clinical support and maintenance activities for clinical interfaces such as lab and hospital interfaces.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to understand and document clinical workflows, ensuring that informatics solutions align with clinical needs and enhance patient care.
• Conduct workflow analysis to identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements.
• Assist in the development and implementation of clinical decision support tools to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.

Personalized Reporting Solutions:

• Conceptualize and implement customized reporting solutions tailored to the unique needs of various healthcare departments.
• Develop and generate detailed, real-time reports and dashboards to support clinical, operational, and strategic initiatives.
• Provide ongoing support and refinement to ensure the enduring relevance and efficacy of generated reports.
• Work closely with department heads to identify key performance indicators and develop reporting mechanisms that track progress and outcomes.
• Ensure reports comply with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.

Seamless System Integration:

• Collaborate closely with IT teams to integrate healthcare informatics solutions with existing systems, including electronic health records (EHR) and other data repositories.
• Facilitate the integration of new modules and features within the EHR system to enhance functionality and user experience.
• Ensure interoperability between different healthcare systems and promote the use of standardized data exchange protocols.

Qualifications:

• Extensive experience with Epic EMR system is required.
• Extensive track record in healthcare informatics showcasing proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and strategic contribution.
• In-depth knowledge and practical experience ensuring HIPAA compliance in complex healthcare environments.
• Mastery of healthcare data standards (HRSA, HL7, CDA) and demonstrated success in fostering interoperability.
• Proficiency in SQL, data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and statistical analysis software.
• Comprehensive understanding of medical terminology, healthcare workflows, and clinical processes.
• Outstanding communication skills with a proven ability to navigate cross-functional collaborations effectively
