We are seeking a highly skilled Database Developer to maintain and enhance our transactional and warehouse database systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in database management, data modeling, optimization, and data governance. As a Database Developer, you will work closely with software development, data analysts, and stakeholders to ensure high levels for data integrity, data security, and efficiency in our systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Database Design and Development:
    • Design, develop, and maintain database structures and schemas.
    • Create and manage database objects such as tables, views, indexes, and stored procedures.
    • Implement and manage data models and ensure alignment with business requirements.
  • Data Integration and Management:
    • Develop and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to integrate data from various sources.
    • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across databases.
    • Perform data migration tasks and database conversions.
  • Performance Optimization:
    • Monitor and analyze database performance and implement tuning and optimization strategies.
    • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and issues.
    • Conduct regular database maintenance and backups, when needed.
  • Security and Compliance:
    • Implement and manage database security measures to protect sensitive data.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and standards.
    • Develop and enforce database access controls and user permissions.
  • Collaboration and Support:
    • Collaborate with application developers, data analysts, and other team members to support data-driven solutions.
    • Provide technical support and troubleshoot database-related issues.
    • Document database designs, processes, and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
    • Proven and progressive experience as a Database Developer of 5 years or more.
    • Experience with relational databases, specifically MS SQL and Azure SQL.
    • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
    • Governance and release management.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in SQL and database query languages, T-SQL.
    • Experience with database design and normalization techniques.
    • Familiarity with ETL tools and data integration methods.
    • Knowledge of database management systems (DBMS) and tools.
    • Understanding database security best practices.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
    • Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy and quality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in insurance property and casualty domain.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing and business intelligence concepts.

Compensation:

  • $100,000 - $130,000 DOE
