Job Description

Bowler Pons is currently seeking a Video Management System (VMS) System Administrator to support an active government contract. This individual will be responsible for supporting day-to-day operational needs and additional system administration tasks as assigned related to the client s networked VMS instance and associated assets (servers, cameras, etc.). This role is based out of Norfolk VA, with regular travel to local client site(s).

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Installation and configuration of Milestone recording servers, Milestone management clients, and setting appropriate permissions for RBAC of the application.
  • Overall system monitoring, design, maintenance, and general administration duties.
  • Communicating and acting as a technical liaison/Milestone subject matter expert (SME) for non-technical customers and clients.

Required Qualifications:

  • United States citizenship
  • At least five (5) years of experience as a System Administrator
  • At least two (2) years of experience with a networked VMS application suite, including server and OS maintenance
  • At least two (2) years of experience with SQL Server database and query design and administration
  • Bachelor s Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent
  • CompTIA Network+ and Security+ certifications
  • Experience with various Windows OS and Active Directory (AD) environments, network configurations, and implementation of security best practices
  • Understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals, sub-netting and other networking fundamentals
  • Ability to monitor and diagnose issues within the network as related to the application
  • Robust technical troubleshooting skills and analytical problem-solving ability
  • Time management skill - ability to independently manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborative and willing to work as part of a team to address challenges and resolve issues
  • Strong attention to detail

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Milestone-specific experience, up to Milestone Certified Integration Technician (MCIT) certification
  • CISSP, Security +CE, CAP, CISA, CISM certifications
  • PowerShell and/or Python scripting experience
  • Linux server administration experience
  • Familiarity with Internet of Things (IoT) device management best practices
