We are currently seeking a Design Engineer II.
Primary Responsibilities:
Leads standard projects, analyzes and designs new products and systems, and improves existing products to hit project milestones.
Completes costing analysis throughout the project lifecycle to meet or exceed key costing metrics.
Designs and/or improves products considering manufacturability, quality and cost with a thorough understanding of design tools and methods. Reviews and approves work done by Designers, Drafters, Design Engineers, and 3rd party engineering support.
Optimizes products considering manufacturability, quality and cost with a thorough understanding of analysis methods.
Solves problems effectively and efficiently to drive optimized designs, in conjunction with the company s needs and project timeline.
Assists with development of product specifications. Translates specifications to manufacturing requirements.
Aids in creation of test plans and development of new test protocol for products or components, with a solid understanding of reliability and fail.
Participates in verifying that designs meet specification through product testing, and develops the product qualification testing
Supports the production team in person by walking through potential issues, troubleshooting components, and participating in witness testing
Changes gears frequently and multitask in a fast paced environment
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent educational experience
3-5 years experience within application, design, or sustaining engineering or technical sales function
Ability to design and configure complex systems with guidance
Ability to travel occasionally, for training and testing purposes less than 10%
Familiarity with power electronics equipment including switchgear, MCPs, soft starters, and/or VFDs.
Ability to primarily work independently and consistently meet deadline.
Demonstrated design experience with low or medium voltage solid state starters
Demonstrated design and qualification experience with UL 347 and/or UL 508A including UL testing support
Demonstrated design experience with AutoCAD
Demonstrated design and qualification experience related to power electronics
Desired Skills and Experience:
Experience operating in an electronics manufacturing environment a plus
Strong technical skills related to electrical engineering and power electronics
Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and listening) and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse group of professionals
Good time-management skills and ability to set priorities
Strong commitment to customer service and teamwork
3D design software experience, such as Solidworkers or Inventor, a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
